Resident Groups
LIFE IS A GIFT
Our Residents Live it Well
Walking Groups - Several active groups exist around the initiative to walk for health. For those who are able, walks through the 33-acre campus with manicured flower gardens and beautiful foliage. For the less mobile, walking tours inside the Peabody buildings reveal beautiful artwork created by Peabody residents and professional artists alike. Participants are encouraged to walk at their own pace and ability.
Tai Chi - Patterned after the far-eastern exercise combining slow movements with meditation, our Tai Chi sessions are a favorite among many. A great combination - exercise and relaxation at the same time. Why did we not learn this in PE class?
Sketching and Calligraphy Classes - Trained teachers help residents learn and maintain skills at sketching and ornate writing styles. Pencil, chalk, pen-and-ink and other common mediums are used.
Bible Study- A mid-week Christian worship service led a volunteer. Open to all residents from across the Peabody campus, their families and Peabody staff.
Town Meetings - Each level of residence has the opportunity to meet and discuss opportunities for better living at Peabody. These meetings are held by the Resident Council and include announcements of upcoming events and timely topics presented by members of the Peabody family or community leaders with question and answer time following.
Book Club - This group meets in the on-campus Marion McKay Walley Library. Contemporary fiction, classics and poetry are just some of the topic-specific Book Worm groups available. The group typically chooses a title to read and then offers reviews and discussions of the topics presented in the writing.

Peabody Entertainers - Formed in 1998, the "Entertainers" perform for Peabody residents and throughout local communities at festivals and special events. Some of the past events include "A Good Ol' Vaudeville Show" (1999), "A Dixieland Jamboree" (2000), "A Country Music Jamboree" (2001), and "Celebrate America: A Patriotic Musical" (2002). Barbershop and Broadway tunes also make up special sessions conducted by the group.
The Peabody "Bus" - Join the bus as it visits cultural and dining destinations throughout the region. Take in a dinner-theater or finish your Christmas shopping at curiosity and antique shops along the way.
Adult Vacation Bible School - Residents and their guests can attend in the summer or winter sessions.
Peabody Auxiliary - Residents can volunteer in the Peabody Gift Shop, health care area or in many other ways. Visit the Volunteer page to learn more.
