North Manchester, IN – As Peabody Retirement Community and the world prepared for the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics, 1956 gold medal recipient, Gregory Bell, DDS recently spoke at Peabody before an audience of over 50 guests.
Peabody Independent Living resident, Virginia Spencer (center) holds Dr. Bell’s (second from left) 1956 Melbourne Olympic gold medal for the long jump. Virginia is a former Logansport, IN resident and Dr. Bell currently resides in Logansport.

Speaking about his childhood life, as well as military career, formal education, and journey into track and field, Dr. Bell also shared his love of reading and creating poetry. He presented Peabody with several copies of his “Flecks of Gold” collection of his personal poetry. These books were placed in Peabody’s library.
